TIPS FOR THE PERFECT PARTY

Creating Treasured Memories

There's lots of little tricks to make every party go off with a bang.

  • Plan ahead, the more time you have to prepare your party, the better the day will be.

  • Think about how you want the party to look and feel. Is there anything in-particular you want to include in it?

  • Book your venue an hour and half before the party, to give yourself time to set up. Get lots of help for setting up the tables and chairs, as this can be time consuming. Having a clear idea of what will go where in the venue will help speed up the setting up process.

  • Order food -check how much notice is needed on certain items, especially occasion cakes. Pick these up the day before the party. Make sure you have enough free fridge space.

  • If you're making sandwiches yourself, a cookie cut can give a plain sandwich the 'wow factor'. Find one that matches your theme.

  • Have a craft (or two) activities that guests can do when they arrive, so they have something to do straight away. Your guests will 'arrive at different times. By having a craft activity set up that they can do without much guidance, it gives you chance to greet all your guests, whilst making sure the others are fully entertained.

  • You will need 2-4 games before food (if you're having food). The amount depends on the age of the guests. The older they are, the more activities you will need as they will get through them faster. Then have something like a craft activity they can do after food, whilst their food settles, then 1 or 2 games after that. Remember you also need to squeeze in the cake and sing 'happy birthday' (if it's a birthday party).

  • You could do a balloon drop for younger guests as the last activity. Balloons always go down well.
